Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX printer installation on Windows 11

This guide explains how to install and configure the network printer
Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX on a PC with Windows 11.


Before we begin

Before proceeding with installation, check that

  • the PC is connected to the Institute's network;
  • you have administrator permissions on your PC;
  • the operating system is Windows 11;
  • l'Account ID has been communicated by the administrator;
  • the printer can be reached at printer.isafom.cnr.it.
Attention: l'Account ID must only consist of numbers and may contain a maximum of 8 figures.

1️⃣ Downloading Drivers

  1. Download the drivers:

    Kx85_UPD_8.5.2405_en_RC2_WHQL

    or

    from the Kyocera website
    .
  2. Save the file .zip on the PC.
  3. Completely extract all contents into a local folder.

Example of a folder:

Desktop\Kyocera_Driver
Important: do not start setup.exe. The driver must be loaded manually when adding the printer.

2️⃣ Adding the network printer

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Bluetooth and devices.
  3. Click on Printers and scanners.
  4. At the top, click on Add device.
  5. Wait a few seconds.
  6. When the entry appears “The desired printer is not in the list”.”, click on Add manually.

3️⃣ TCP/IP port creation

  1. Select Add a printer or scanner using a TCP/IP address or host name.
  2. Click on Next.
  3. Set the following values:

    • Type of device: TCP/IP device
    • Host name or IP address: printer.isafom.cnr.it
  4. Deactivate the tick:

    Query the printer and automatically select the driver
  5. Click on Next.
We recommend using printer.isafom.cnr.it.
Use IP address 140.164.75.11 only if the host name is not resolved correctly.

4️⃣ Port Configuration

  1. At the screen Type of device, select:

    • Customised
    • click on Settings...
  2. Check that the values are set as follows:

    • Door name: printer.isafom.cnr.it
    • Printer name or IP address: printer.isafom.cnr.it
    • ProtocolRAW
    • Door number: 9100
    • SNMP status activated
    • Community name: isafom
  3. Confirm with OK.
  4. Click on Next.

5️⃣ Installing the Kyocera driver

  1. When asked for the driver, click on Driver disk....
  2. Select the folder where the drivers were extracted.

Indicative route:

  1. Open the file OEMSETUP.INF.
  2. Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX.
  3. Click on Next.

6️⃣ Finishing the installation

  1. Under Printer name, leave the one proposed.
  2. Select Do not share this printer.
  3. Optional: set printer as default.
  4. Do not print the test page yet.
  5. Click on End.
Important: the test page should only be printed after configuring the’Account ID.

✅ The printer is now installed.


7️⃣ Final configuration of the Kyocera driver

After installation, it is necessary to configure:

  • Account ID e Job Accounting;
  • username displayed on the printer;
  • private press;
  • black and white printing as the default setting.
This configuration is performed by accessing the printer properties only once, avoiding opening and closing the same windows several times.

A. Open printer properties

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Going to Bluetooth and devices.
  3. Click on Printers and scanners.
  4. Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX.
  5. Click on Printer properties.

B. Configure Account ID and Job Accounting

  1. Open the tab Device Settings.
  2. Click on Administrator....
  3. Open the section Job Accounting.
  4. Activate the ✅ entry Job Accounting.
  5. Select Use specific account ID.
  6. Insert the’Account ID provided by the administrator.
  7. Confirm with OK.

C. Configure the user name

  1. Staying in the Device Settings, click on User....
  2. In the field User name, enter the first and last name of the PC user.
  3. Confirm with OK.

D. Configure Private Printing and Job Accounting in Printing Preferences

  1. Staying in the window Printer properties, open the tab General.
  2. Click on Preferences....
  3. Open the tab Work.
  4. In the section Work archiving or e-MPS, set:

    • Type: Private press
    • uncheck Password request
    • at Specify password, enter the ID communicated by the administrator
  5. In the section Job Accounting, click on Settings....
  6. Select Use specific ID.
  7. Enter the ID communicated by the administrator, if required.
  8. Confirm with OK.

E. Set black-and-white printing as default

  1. Staying in the window Printing Preferences, open the tab Base.
  2. Under Colour, select:

    • Black and white
  3. Verify that Car colour o Colour are not selected.
  4. Click on Apply.
  5. Click on OK to close the Printing Preferences.

F. Confirm printer settings

  1. Back to the window Printer properties, click on Apply.
  2. Click on OK.

✅ Configuration of the Kyocera driver is complete.


8️⃣ Final verification

At this point, a print test can be performed.

  1. Open a test document.
  2. Select printer Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX.
  3. Send the printout.
  4. Go to the printer.
  5. If required, select your private print job.
  6. Check that the print is correctly produced in black and white.
Installation completed: the printer is configured with Account ID, Job Accounting, private printing and default black and white.
