Before we begin
Before proceeding with installation, check that
- the PC is connected to the Institute's network;
- you have administrator permissions on your PC;
- the operating system is Windows 11;
- l'Account ID has been communicated by the administrator;
- the printer can be reached at
printer.isafom.cnr.it.
⚠️ L’Account ID must only consist of numbers and may contain
at most 8 figures.
1️⃣ Driver download
- Downloading Drivers
Kx85_UPD_8.5.2405_en_RC2_WHQL
or
from the Kyocera website
- Save the .zip file and extract all files
- Pull out completely the contents in a local folder
Example:
Desktop\Kyocera_Driver - ⚠️ Do not start setup.exe: the driver must be loaded manually
2️⃣ Adding network printer Windows 11
- Open Settings
- Select Bluetooth and devices
- Click on Printers and scanners
- At the top click Add device
- Wait a few seconds
- When the entry appears
“The desired printer is not in the list”.”,
click on Add manually
3️⃣ TCP/IP port creation
- Select
Add a printer or scanner using a TCP/IP address or host name - Click Next
- Set:
- Type of device:
TCP/IP device - Host name or IP address:
printer.isafom.cnr.it
- Type of device:
- Deactivate the tick:
❌ Query the printer and automatically select the driver
- Click Next
We recommend using printer.isafom.cnr.it. Use the IP address only if
the host name is not resolved correctly.
4️⃣ Door settings
- At the screen Port Settings:
- TypeCustomised
- Click Settings...
- Verify:
- ProtocolRAW
- Door number: 9100
- ✅ SNMP status activated
- Community name:
isafom
- Confirm with OK
- Click Next
5️⃣ Kyocera driver installation
- When asked for the driver, click Driver disk...
- Select the folder where the drivers were extracted
- Open the file
.inf, for exampleOEMSETUP.INF - Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX
- Click Next
6️⃣ Installation finalisation
- Printer nameleave the one proposed
- Do not share this printer
- Optional: set as default printer
- DO NOT print the test page
The print test should only be performed after the Account ID has been set up.
- Click End
✅ The printer is now installed.
7️⃣ Verify peripheral options
After installing the driver, it is advisable to check that the printer options
are correctly recognised by the driver.
- Open Settings
- Bluetooth and devices → Printers and scanners
- Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX
- Click on Printer properties
- Open the tab Device Settings
In some versions it may be called “Device Settings” or “Device Settings”.
- Click on Automatically configure...
- Check that drawers, memory and accessories are detected correctly
- Click Apply
- Click OK
⚠️ If the automatic configuration does not detect accessories correctly,
check that the printer is switched on, connected to the network and accessible from the PC.
8️⃣ Mandatory setting: Account ID, Job Accounting and Private Print
⚠️ After printer installation, it is necessary to configure
l'Account ID in the Kyocera driver.
This setting is mandatory if the printer has the
Job Accounting.
If the Account ID is not entered correctly in the driver, printing may
not start or the printer may show the error
“Incorrect account ID”.
This configuration must be done once only for each PC and includes
two steps:
- configuration of the’Account ID in the driver's administrator settings;
- ID configuration in the Printing Preferences, in the section Work.
A. Open printer properties
- Open Settings
- Bluetooth and devices → Printers and scanners
- Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX
- Click on Printer properties
⚠️ NOT “Print Preferences”
B. Access the driver's administrator settings
- Open the tab Device Settings
In some versions it may be called “Device Settings” or “Device Settings”.
- Click on Administrator...
In some versions it may be called “Administrator...”.
- Open the section Job Accounting
C. Activate Job Accounting and enter the Account ID
- Activate the voice:
- ✅ Job Accounting
- Select Use specific account ID, if any
- Insert the’Account ID provided by the administrator
- Confirm with OK
- Click Apply
- Click OK
✅ From now on, the driver will send print jobs using
l'Account ID configured.
D. Configure the ID also in the Printing Preferences
After configuring the Account ID in the driver's administrator settings,
you must also set the same ID in the Printing Preferences.
- Open Settings
- Bluetooth and devices → Printers and scanners
- Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX
- Click on Printer properties
- Open the tab General
- Click on Preferences...
- Open the tab Work
- In the section Work archiving (e-MPS), set:
- Type: Private press
- PasswordEnter the ID communicated by the administrator
- In the section Job Accounting, click on
Settings... - Select Use specific ID
- Insert the’ID communicated by the administrator, if required
- Click OK
- Click Apply
- Click OK
✅ From now on, prints will be sent as
private prints and can be released from the printer panel
by entering the configured password.
⚠️ The ID entered in the field Password of the section
Private press is used to unlock the job directly from the printer.
⚠️ This setting does not replace Job Accounting:
Job Accounting is used for print accounting, whereas private print
serves to hold the work until unlocked by password.
⚠️ Works submitted as private press do not remain stored
permanently: they are removed after printing. They can also be removed
if the printer is switched off, restarted or if the job retention period expires.
9️⃣ Verify Account ID Configuration and Private Print
Before proceeding with the other settings, it is advisable to check that
the Account ID was entered correctly in the driver.
- Open any document
- Send a test print
- Check that the print is accepted by the printer
- If printing has been set as private press,
retrieve the job from the printer panel by entering the ID configured as password
If the error appears “Incorrect account ID”, check that:
- l'Account ID has been correctly inserted in the PC driver;
- the Job Accounting is active on the printer;
- l'Account ID is also present and enabled on the printer side;
- at Printing Preferences is selected Use specific ID.
If the printout is not released as a private printout, check that:
- at Work archiving (e-MPS) is selected Private press;
- in the field Password the correct ID has been entered;
- work is present in the Job Box of the printer.
🔟 Retrieving private printing from the printer
If the Private press, the document is not printed
immediately, but remains pending on the printer.
- From the printer panel, open Job Box
- Select the document to be printed
- Press Print
- Insert the password configured in the driver
- Confirm with OK
- Specify the number of copies, if required
- Press Start printing
✅ The document will only be printed after the correct password has been entered.
11️⃣ Recommended setting: user name displayed on the printer
To make print jobs sent to the printer recognisable, it is advisable to
set in the Kyocera driver the user name using the PC.
This setting allows the name of the person to be displayed on the printer
who sent the printout, instead of just the name of the PC.
This should be done once only for each PC.
A. Open printer properties
- Open Settings
- Bluetooth and devices → Printers and scanners
- Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX
- Click on Printer properties
B. Open User Settings
- Open the tab Device Settings
- Click on User...
C. Enter your user name
- In the field User name enter the first and last name of the PC user
- In the field Department, if useful, enter the department or office to which it belongs
- Click OK
- Click Apply
- Click OK
✅ From now on, print jobs sent from the PC will be more easily
recognisable on the printer.
⚠️ This setting does not replace the Account IDonly serves to
better identify the user sending the printout.
12️⃣ Mandatory setting: black and white printing from driver
⚠️ If not set by the driver, the prints start
colour by default, even when not necessary.
This should be done once only for each PC.
A. Set Black and White as default
- Open Settings
- Bluetooth and devices → Printers and scanners
- Select Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci KX
- Click Printing Preferences
⚠️ NOT “Printer properties”
B. Colour settings
- Open the tab Base
In some versions it may be called “Quality” or “Basic Settings”.
- Under Colour select:
- ✅ Black and white
- Verify that Automatic colour o Colour
are NOT selected
C. Confirmation
- Click OK
- Close all windows
✅ As of this moment all prints will start in black and white,
unless manually modified by the user.
⚠️ On PCs shared by several Windows users, it may be necessary to repeat
the settings of Printing Preferences for each user.
On shared PCs, the administrator can configure settings from
Printer properties → Advanced →
Default print settings, so as to apply them as a general default.
13️⃣ Common problems
| Problem | Possible cause | Solution |

🛠️ Note for the printer administrator
⚠️ Remember to check that the Account ID is also configured on the printer side,
not only in PC drivers.
In particular, access the administration panel of the
TASKalfa 3554ci Command Centre and check that:
- the Job Accounting is active;
- l'Account ID used by users is present and enabled;
- there are no restrictions or limitations blocking print jobs;
- the function of Private press is usable correctly;
- the printer's memory/disk has sufficient space for private jobs.
Otherwise, even with the driver configured correctly,
the printer may show the error
“Incorrect account ID” or not accepting private jobs correctly.
