VIS-NIR spectroscopy
VIS-NIR spectrometry, Herculaneum site.
Vis-NIR spectroscopy laboratory: Headed by Dr. Antonio P. Leone, Herculaneum site: antonio.leone@isafom.cnr.it. It is currently located at the headquarters of the Benevento Experimental Camp (technical supervisor Dr. Fulvio Fragnito) and is equipped with:
- a spectroradiometer mod. ASD FieldSpec Pro (Analytical Spectral Devices) for high-resolution spectral reflectance measurements in the visible-near-infrared domain (vis-NIR, 350-2500 nm) of soils, vegetation, rocks and other opaque material, under both laboratory and field conditions. The instrument is equipped with a) a contact probehigh intensity, using a halogen bulb for illumination, b) a white reference panel (Spectralon®), c) a leaf clip which, in combination with the contact probenon-destructive leaf measurements; d) a notebook with dedicated software for managing and pre-processing of spectral reflectance measurements;
- a fixed-wing drone mod. eBee (pilot Dr. Fulvio Fragnito), equipped with an RGB camera, a near-infrared camera and a multispectral camera, operating in the visible (3 bands) and near-infrared (1 band);
- a drone mod. DJI Phantom 4 Pro (pilot Dr. Antonio P. Leone) four-rotor drone, equipped with a high spatial resolution RGB camera.
- dedicated software for image analysis.
Both drones are used in research activities concerning: precision agriculture, mapping and monitoring of surface earth resources, with a focus on soils and crops.
