Workshop for Interconnected Electronic and Information Systems, NODO (L3.02)

Interconnected Electronic and Information Systems Workshop, NODO (L3.02)

Responsible & Responsible: Andrea Esposito

The workshop NODE is a CNR-ISAFOM service structure, established to directly support the Institute's scientific activities and projects. It operates in the field of interconnected electronic and IT systems, with the aim of integrating electronics and IT skills into a single operational environment, overcoming the traditional separation between hardware development and software management.

Contemporary scientific instrumentation is increasingly based on intelligent sensors, capable of communicating with each other and transmitting data over a network, enabling the creation of distributed systems that can be integrated with the Institute's IT infrastructure.

In this context, the workshop NODE supports the design and integration of embedded systems, sensor networks and IoT devices, ensuring business continuity, reliability and interoperability in research projects.

The workshop picks up the baton of the previous ERA Lab - Environmental Research Aircraft Laboratory, active at ISAFOM's historic Herculaneum site, inheriting its experimental approach and reorganising it into a structure oriented towards operational needs and current technological evolution.

The name NODE recalls the function of the workshop as connecting element between electronics and IT, by fostering the integration of devices, data and infrastructures to support the Institute's scientific activities.
