Short presentation by Silvano Fares
With expertise in plant ecophysiology and response to environmental stresses by agricultural and forest species, Silvano Fares conducts forest monitoring with micrometeorological techniques and carries out modelling of gas exchange between plants and the atmosphere for the study of ecosystem services provided by urban forests. He coordinates projects of national and international relevance on the monitoring of forest ecosystems and the provision of ecosystem services by urban forests. With a scopus H-index of 37, he has published over 100 scientific articles in international journals including Nature and Science.
Work experience:
- Since January 2023, he has worked as Director of the Institute for Mediterranean Agricultural and Forestry Systems - ISAFoM.
- From December 2019 until the end of 2022: Research Manager at the Institute for BioEconomics - IBE.
- From 2010 to 2019: Researcher and scientific advisor at the Council for Agricultural Research and Analysis of Agricultural Economics - CREA.
- Until 2010: Degree in Forestry and Environmental Sciences from the University of Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy. PhD in Forest Ecology at CNR-IBAF (Rome) and a research period at the University of Berkeley (California, USA).

- From 2010 to 2019: Researcher and scientific advisor at the Council for agricultural research and agricultural economics analysis - CREA.
- Until 2010: Graduated in Forestry and Environmental Sciences at the University of Tuscia, Viterbo, he carried out a PhD in Forest Ecology at the CNR-IBAF (Rome) and a PostDOc at the University of Berkeley (California, USA).
