  • Alessandro Esposito graduated in Agricultural Sciences in 1992 from the University of Naples -Federico II-. In 1996, he obtained his Habilitation Diploma for the Practice of the Profession of Doctor of Agriculture. Since 1995 he has collaborated in scientific research projects with CNR institutions, first at the Centro di Studio sulla Chimica e Biochimica dei Fitofarmaci di Perugia del C.N.R and since 2002 at the CNR Istituto per i Sistemi Agricoli e Forestali del Mediterraneo (CNR-ISAFoM).
  • He has carried out research activities concerning the environmental fate in the soil of the main substances used in agriculture: xenobiotics, phytotoxins of natural origin, oil effluents. The evolution of these substances in the water-soil-plant system has been studied, both through degradation and adsorption tests in the laboratory and in the open field, and through the use of mathematical models.
  • At the Perugia section of ISAFoM-CNR, he is engaged in research activities aimed at the technical and economic improvement of the management of olive oil mill wastewater with particular attention to its use in agronomy. In this field, he deals with the aerobic maturation of biomasses based on olive oil wastes and the impact that these mixtures have on the soil with particular attention to the carbon and nitrogen cycle.
  • Recently, during the activities of a PIF project (2013-15), he collaborated on the construction of a laboratory plant (BIODEG) capable of carrying out ultimate biodegradability tests of bioplastics, both in compost and in soil, in accordance with the relevant European standards (UNI EN ISO 13432, 14855-1, 17556).

He participated in the following European projects

  • 2000 P.E.G.A.S.E. (Pesticides in European Groundwaters: detailed study of representative Aquifers and Simulation of possible Evolution scenarios - EU-FP5 Contract EVK1-CT-1999-00028).
  • 2008 LIFE-TIRSAV PLUS ENV/IT/845 (Innovative Technologies for the Recycling of Sewage and Vegetation Water
  • 2009 STInno (Sustainable Innovations and Treatment in Industrial Waste Water Clusters) FP7-REGIONS-2009-1
  • 2012 FFW 'Liquid and gas Fischer-Tropsch fuel production from olive industry waste: fuel from waste' Grant Agreement No: 308.773
