{"id":2748,"date":"2026-02-16T13:11:50","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T12:11:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/isafom.cnr.it\/?page_id=2748"},"modified":"2026-05-07T12:25:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T10:25:52","slug":"pace-roberta","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/isafom.cnr.it\/en\/pace-roberta\/","title":{"rendered":"Peace Roberta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Peace Roberta\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Portici office scholarship holder<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2755\" src=\"https:\/\/isafom.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PACE-ROBERTA-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/isafom.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PACE-ROBERTA-2.jpg 297w, https:\/\/isafom.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PACE-ROBERTA-2-13x12.jpg 13w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 208px) 100vw, 208px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">I currently hold a research grant <strong>presso l\u2019Istituto per i Sistemi Agricoli e Forestali del Mediterraneo<\/strong> (CNR-ISAFOM sede principale di Portici) nell\u2019ambito del<strong> progetto \u201cFerrero \u2013 Agreement Nocciole<\/strong>\u201d, sotto la <strong>scientific direction by Dr Matteo Giaccone.<\/strong> The research grant has<strong> the duration of 8 months<\/strong> as of<strong> from 01\/02\/2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">La mia attivit\u00e0 di ricerca indaga l\u2019interazione tra il danno biotico indotto da <em>Halyomorpha halys<\/em>, the phenology of the core and the associated microbiota, through molecular biology and microbiology approaches, with the aim of better understanding the qualitative characters and damage dynamics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">From 2022 to 2025, I was a PhD student (cycle XXXVIII) in the National PhD in Artificial Intelligence (Agrifood and Environment area). My research project focused on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence tools and predictive models for sustainable agriculture, integrating heterogeneous data (monitoring, field measurements, biological and microbiological data) to build reproducible workflows useful for decision support. A central component of my work involves analysing complex microbiological datasets (including soil microbial community data) and developing analysis pipelines in Python for extracting robust biological signals and producing interpretable outputs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">I consolidated my experimental skills in microbiology during a research period abroad at the University of Salamanca (Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Microbiology and Genetics), carrying out isolation and characterisation of fungi and bacteria from different matrices, using molecular biology (DNA extraction, gene amplification, identification) and metagenomics approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\">The research activity is accompanied by scientific production (publications and conference contributions) on applications of artificial intelligence to microbiome analysis and microbial dynamics in agricultural systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>In the course of my research experience, I have developed skills in:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Molecular biology and microbiology:<\/strong> DNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis, microbial cultures (fungi and bacteria), NGS workflows (e.g. Oxford Nanopore\/Illumina) and downstream bioinformatics analysis.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Field activities and plant protection:<\/strong> monitoring and sampling, damage assessment and sample collection\/management along the phenological phases.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Data analysis and scientific computing:<\/strong> Statistical and multivariate analyses with Python\/R\/SPSS; management of complex datasets (agronomic, phenological, microbiological) and advanced visualisations (PCA, heatmap, clustering, LDA).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>Scientific communication and outreach:<\/strong> organising and conducting dissemination and educational activities at scientific events.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pace Roberta\u00a0Borsista sede di Portici Attualmente sono titolare di una borsa di ricerca presso l\u2019Istituto per i Sistemi Agricoli e Forestali del Mediterraneo (CNR-ISAFOM sede principale di Portici) nell\u2019ambito del progetto \u201cFerrero \u2013 Agreement Nocciole\u201d, sotto la direzione scientifica del Dott.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2748","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry","category-personale"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
