Lorenzo Pin<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Researcher Level III TD<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

My research activities at the National Research Council focus on the study of interactions between plants, microbes and the environment, with the aim of contributing to the sustainability and resilience of agricultural systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

A first area concerns the characterisation of microbial communities in the soil and rhizosphere, using next-generation sequencing techniques (Illumina, Nanopore) and metagenomics, metatranscriptomics and marker-gene approaches (16S, ITS, 18S). These analyses make it possible to assess microbial biodiversity, understand its functional potential and identify beneficial consortia with possible applications as bioinoculants.<\/span><\/p>\n

A second area is the study of molecular responses of plants to abiotic stresses such as salinity and drought. Through RNA-seq and transcriptomic analyses, I investigate gene regulation mechanisms and the contribution of the microbiome associated with crop adaptation to unfavourable environmental conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, I am involved in the development of bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of complex omics data, optimised for high-performance computing (HPC) systems. These tools allow scalable and reproducible processing, ensuring robustness and transparency of results.<\/span><\/p>\n

My approach integrates microbiology, molecular biology, ecology and computational science, contributing to the generation of knowledge useful for agroecosystem innovation and sustainability.<\/span><\/p>\n
